A day after North Korea said it tested a nuclear device and seismic sensors registered tremors consistent with a small test, the question remains: What exactly happened at that mountain site near the Chinese border? Many scientists and most governments concerned have yet to definitively conclude whether it was a small nuclear device, a dud test of what might have been a much larger device.

Three-time Masters snooker champion Paul Hunter died on Monday aged 27 from cancer. He had been taken into a hospice in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, last Friday and died on Monday evening. Hunter, who reached the world championship semifinals in 2003, was diagnosed with dozens of tumours in his stomach in March 2005.

The JSE lost a little ground in range-bound trade by midday, with traders becoming a little more hesitant to dive in ahead of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting this week. By 12.24pm, the all share index was up 0,17%, with platinum leading the way with a gain of 0,77% and industrials adding 0,21%.

The 14-year-old boy arrested for allegedly stabbing a fellow pupil to death at the Forest High School remained in custody at the Booysens police station on Tuesday, Johannesburg police said. Captain Schalk Bornman said the boy has been charged with murder and police were awaiting word from the state prosecutor on when he would appear before the Booysens Magistrate’s Court.

Australia’s injury plagued former world number one Lleyton Hewitt said on Tuesday he was not contemplating retirement and believed he could again reach the top ranking on the men’s tennis tour. ”I was number one or two only a year-and-a-half ago, so I feel like I can still get back up there,” Hewitt said at a press conference to launch January’s Sydney International.
