M&G is hiring: Special projects coordinator

The Mail & Guardian Online is looking for a special projects coordinator. This is a junior to mid-level post that will report to the online deputy editor.

Key performance areas

Management and implementation of online projects, including:

  • Microsites
  • Special online reports
  • Social networking campaigns
  • Competitions
  • Editorially-driven advertising campaigns

Skills include

  • Assisting in the specification and brainstorming of projects
  • Setting and driving deadlines
  • Producing editorial content, or liaising with freelancers to produce content
  • Planning and allocating resources
  • Managing budgets
  • Liaising between business stakeholders and service providers
  • Quality control and bug tracking
  • Traffic control of current and incoming projects
  • Management of service providers, developers, freelance writers, photographers, sub-editors and web administrators
  • Formation and management of internal task teams responsible for special projects
  • Regular reporting on projects throughout their life cycle

Qualifications and experience
Required:

  • Experience in a journalism environment
  • Experience in social media
  • Highly computer literate
  • Experience in general project management
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant subject

Beneficial:

  • Experience in an online content environment
  • Experience in the management of online or digital media projects
  • A portfolio of completed projects
  • Experience in Scrum or other agile methodologies
