Tsotsobe on target as India fall for 190

Fast bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe’s second successive four-wicket haul helped South Africa to bundle out India for 190 in the second one-day international on Saturday.

India elected to bat first but could not cope with the slowish Wanderers pitch and would have perished for a much lower score had it not been for Yuvraj Singh’s 53. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s patient 38 was the next best score as India were all out in 47.2 overs.

The tourists adopted a cautious approach from the start as openers Murali Vijay and Sachin Tendulkar put on just 21 runs in eight overs. The Indians’ tactics quickly unravelled as they lost their last seven wickets for only 40 runs.

Tsotsobe struck for the first time in his fourth over as Vijay was caught in the midwicket region for 16. India then slipped to 67 for three in 19 overs as they lost Tendulkar, bowled by spinner Johan Botha for 24, while Virat Kohli was run out for 22.

Yuvraj and Dhoni added 83 before Tsotsobe returned to dismiss Yuvraj. The left-hander drove the left-armer to deep mid-off.

Tsotsobe removed Dhoni and Suresh Raina (11) to finish with career-best figures of four for 22 as India’s innings faltered during the batting powerplay.
