A new exhibition takes a fresh look at a familiar environment, while another documents a photographer’s travels.
? Smile is the title of both the book and the exhibition of images captured by KwaZulu-Natal photographer Guy Anderson. These were launched and opened respectively at Durban’s most exciting new contemporary art gallery with the equally compelling exhibition, Defining Images: From Countries at Opposite Ends of Our Most Populous Continents by Garth Lezard. Possessed by chronic itchy-foot syndrome, Anderson recently completed the Joy Tour 2010, an epic motorcycle trek around Africa, which was meant to last three months but ended up with Anderson thumbing his last lift home seven months after the outset.
