Opening at ever-excellent contemporary artSPACE durban this week is an exciting group exhibition entitled Inspiration.
The highly innovative concept behind the exhibition was of gathering a group of KZN’s top artists and presenting each with the formidable task of choosing a single artwork from the recent Durban Art Gallery Archives Exhibition that was truly inspirational to them. Thereafter the 23 selected artists proceeded to create a new work with the work that inspired them at its foundation. In another inspired move, the exhibition showcases both the original artwork and the new interpretations.
The participating artists are Steve Mandy, Coral Spencer Domijan, Di van Wyk, Claude Chandler, Carla da Cruz, Pascale Chandler, Jane Oliver, Welcome Danca, Marlene Wasserman, Peter Rippon, Dee Donaldson, Grace Kotze, Chris de Beer, Sibusiso Duma, Marlene de Beer, Faye Spencer, Jackie Freer, Vulindlela Nyoni, Greg Bye, Nicole Eramus, Roz Cryer, Amy-Jo Windt and Janet Solomon.
