PREGNANT MAN-EATER MEETS HER MATCH

A DIVING safari company has hunted and killed a suspected man-eating shark off Dar es Salaam’s main beach in Tanzania after it allegedly ate five people. The pregnant 400kg shark, believed to be responsible for the death of a 28-year-old student last week, was killed after “a hell of pursuit” off the popular Coco Beach. Recent studies have indicated that shark attacks on humans are increasing because growing number of tourists are visiting previously undeveloped tropical beaches. Officials have warned that swimmers should still not brave the seas off Coco Beach, in case there was more than one man-eater in the area. “Sharks often have company, and this one was pregnant so there might be an even bigger male out there somewhere,” he said. – African Eye News Service
