The attractive wife of often embattled Western Cape African National Congress politician and con man, the Reverend Allan Boesak, is to be given a high position in the ANC’s new specialised anti-corruption task force.
According to internal ANC memoranda in the possession of Not the Mail & Guardian, Elna Boesak will take over the reins as the chief corruption and fraud investigator for the ANC’s Cleaner Provincial Government Initiative (CPGI).
The CPGI aims to make sure that the sort of corruption endemic to Mpumalanga does not take root in the Western Cape. According to ANC sources, this sort of moral turpitude has already been taking place in the Western Cape, but only in relation to certain figures who, at the time of the alleged offences, were leading members of the New National Party. Two of these people are appearing in the Cape Regional Court, facing corruption and fraud charges.
The memoranda reveal that the decision to appoint Boesak to the position was taken because during the emotionally exhausting times when her husband was accused of and jailed for fraud, lying, theft and decidedly sub-standard hypocrisy at prayer-meetings, ‘she never for a moment failed in her duty as wife and party member”.
One memorandum goes on to state: ‘Without thought of personal reward Elna Boesak stood by in her personal R800 000 audio and video studio bought with DanChurch funds intended for election information videos, and bravely upheld the fine principles and devotion to Christian outlook, which have marked Allan Boesak’s long and courageous fight against the injustices of the evil apartheid regime.”
Elna Boesak is believed to be on the French Riviera for the annual ‘Give Thanks to Mammon for All He has Dumped into Our Deeply Christian laps” celebrations and banquet, and was unavailable for comment.
