Outstanding matric results finally processed

The national department of education has finally processed all outstanding matric results, more than two months after they were initially scheduled to be released.

Close to 60 000 learners were left high and dry when the results were initially released in December 2008.

The department appointed a task team to look into the delay and it was found that incompetence and neglect of duty were the main reason that the affected matriculants did not receive their results on time.

Last year was the first time matriculants around the country wrote a uniform National Senior Certificate (NSC) exam, and the report also listed the tightening up of the system, and a lack of compliance with the new requirements as a contributing factor to the delay.

The task team report has been referred to the Committee of Heads of Education (HEDCOM) to take the necessary follow-up action.

Matriculants who have not yet received their results can call the department on 0800 202 933.
