Durban serial killer: four more skeletons found

The skeletons of another four supposed victims of a Durban serial killer were found over the weekend, a police spokesperson reported on Sunday.

Superintendent Vishnu Naidoo said contractors clearing an overgrown area to make way for informal housing found the skeletons in the Fozaville area just outside Durban and close to Newlands.

One skeleton was found on Saturday, he said, and another three on Sunday. This brought to ten the number of skeletons found in the area since March 2002.

Police had reason to suspect that the victims were killed by the same person, said Naidoo, but he would not elaborate for fear of compromising the investigation.

Pathologists were examining the skeletons and police would compose identikit pictures of the faces, said Naidu. Preliminary indications were that all the victims were 25 – 40 years old, but identification was proving difficult.

He asked anyone who might assist the police with identification to contact Detective Inspector Lucky Mhlongo on 082-680-1633, or to call the Crime Stop number 08600-10111. – Sapa
