Komphela back for Bafana

Former Bafana Bafana captain Steve Komphela is set to rejoin the South African senior national football squad’s technical staff.

Komphela is reported to be earmarked by Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter to serve as one of his assistants.

The former Bafana star is unemployed at the moment after failing to agree to new terms with the management of Manning Rangers, where he was the head coach.

He worked as Bafana Bafana assistant coach when Carlos Queiroz was still in charge of the South African squad’s technical staff.

Komphela was later redeployed by the federation to coach the South African under-20 national squad after the departure of Queiroz.

Baxter is also said to be talking to coach Jim Lawler from England to assist him. Lawler is an expert on video analysis. – Sapa
