HEATH HANGS UP HIS ROBES

Special Investigating Unit head Judge Willem Heath has applied to President Thabo Mbeki for permission to resign his position on the Bisho bench. Heath gained popularity as South Africa’s most effective corruption buster intended to move to Cape Town to open a private investigation and monitoring consultancy. In an interview on Monday Judge Heath said he had no wish to return to Bisho where he worked as a judge before taking the helm of former president Nelson Mandela’s commission of inquiry into, initially, corruption in the Eastern Cape.
