The latest person tipped as editor of the Sunday Independent is the Star’s political editor Kaizer Nyatsumba. Nyatsumba is one of many names being bandied about to fill the shoes of Shaun Johnson, who has been appointed editor of the Argus in Cape Town. Johnson replaces the Argus’s longtime editor, Andrew Drysdale, in a couple of months’ time.
The Caltex Techron commercial which introduces unleaded fuel to South African motorists, was made in 12 days over 10 locations across the world.
The commercial’s advisory director, Jonathan Parkinson of Parkinson Productions, said the logistical side of putting the commercial together was “awesome”. The commercial was shot at various locations including, the Australian outback, a Californian test track, a Malaysian paddy and a hi-tech bustling Eastern city.
This month sees the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) presenting its second module of training programmes for community radio stations. The first module, held last year, was a basic introduction to operational aspects of radio broadcasting. NAB executive director Daniella Goldman said the second training session would cover more advanced aspects of station management including management, advertising sales and marketing and financial management.

The SABC has secured exclusive rights to broadcast the Olympics, which start in July, as well as Wimbledon and the French Open. SABC 1, which reaches 74% of the South African population, will broadcast the Rapport cycling tour and the Brazilian Grand Prix.
SABC 2’s sporting highlights include the FNB golf tour and World cup cricket highlights, while SABC 3 will broadcast the South African Swimming Triathlon Championship and the Jet Skiing nationals.
