MONDAY, 11.00AM:
SOUTH AFRICAN heavyweight Franscois Botha had a 10th round knockout win over James Stanton of Philadelphia on Sunday, to bag the World Boxing association North American heavyweight title. Stanton looked good in the third and fourth rounds, but in the tenth Botha finished him off.
“I took my time. I wanted to work him and get some rounds in,” Botha said. Botha tested positive for steroids in December 1995, and was stripped of his International Boxing Federation title — now he wants to fight until he has it back. Botha wants to tackle World Boxing Council champion Lennox Lewis next.
“I heard a rumour Lennox Lewis wants to fight me. Let’s get it on. I ‘m ready to fight him,” Botha said.
