TUESDAY, 10.30AM:
SOUTH African Football Association CEO Danny Jordaan on Monday said Namibia has confirmed its participation in this year’s Four Nations Cup. Jordaan said the tournament is alive and will take place at venues where it will not interrupt the League’s programme.
He said the first two matches are likely to be played in Cape Town and Durban and the final in Johannesburg. Other countries invited to participate in this year’s competition are Nigeria and China. Jordaan said if China pulls out then Suadi Arabia will be called in.
“We haven’t played against an Asian team and the Four Nations will be ideal to test our strength against an Asian side,” he said.
Nigeria and China are expected to reply later this week.
Meanwhile, Jordaan said Congo will receive the same treatment as Brazil and Holland. “If we are to beat Congo, we should do so on the field and not in the streets and hotels,” he said.
