HELLENIC and Orlando Pirates drew their Premier League match 1-1 at Greenpoint stadium in Cape Town on Wednesday. Pirates opened the score through defender Willem Jackson and thereafer were all over Hellenic, but failed to penetrate the tight Hellenic defence.
Hellenic took control of the second half and equalised through Peter Kirsten after receiving a pass from Jason Jacobs.
Pirates midfielder Tebogo Moloi was unlucky when his header was saved by Hellenic’s goalkeeper John Dithebe in the 57th minute. Three minutes later Gerald Stober, who came in for Andries Sebola, saw his shot hit the pole.

WESTERNS WIN GOLF WESTERN Province’s Gillian Tebbutt, Wendy Warrington and Val Smith won the Prestasi South African women’s 72-hole strokeplay golf tournament by three shots in Durban on Wednesday. They retained their consistency in a format of two scores to count out of a team of three players with rounds of 155, 157, 154 and 157 for a 72-holes score of 623. They finished ahead of Transvaal B team, and Transvaal A finished third.
POOL CHAMPS FOR SA SOUTH AFRICA will host the 1998 World pool championships which will be held in Kroonstad and Pretoria. South Africa edged Bulgaria by just two votes to win.
