FRIDAY, 12.30PM:
OLYMPICS and World Championships athletes Penny Heyns, Llewellyn Herbert and Marius Corbert will lead the 144-strong South African Students Sports Union (Sassu) team to compete in the World Student Games in Sicily, Italy starting on Tuesday. The team has nine teams including footballers, swimmers and athletes.
Meanwhile, Olympic silver medallist Hezekiel Sepeng might not defend his title at the Games. Sepeng said he might compete in the richer European meetings. “If I get an invite for Brussels and Berlin then I don’t think I’ll go to world students,” he said. “At first I said I would do them a favour, but I already have a medal.”
