CAPE Town Spurs walloped Jomo Cosmos 4-0 in a Castle Premier Soccer League match at Greenpoint Stadium on Sunday. In the 40th minute Ian Gorowa scored Spur’s first goal after receiving a pass from Mumba Ngandu.

Spurs went to the interval 2-0 up after Theo Hempe scored the second goal from a Mathew Booth cross. A well-taken corner kick by David Kannemeyer provided defender Party Lokose with an opportunity to score Spurs’ third goal. and Kannemeyer sealed victory for the Eagles in the 88th minute.

Bloemfontein Celtics beat log-leaders Bush Bucks 2-0 at Seisa Ramabodu in a Premier Soccer League match on Sunday. In the 15th minute Hendrick Arries capitalised on a defensive mistake to register Celtic’s first goal. Godfrey Morena sealed victory in the 49th minute.

Goals by Petrus Mokoena and George Mathiba gave Real Rovers a 2-0 victory over Hellenic at Pietersburg Stadium on Sunday. Mokoena fired a powerful shot that hit the back of the net from a close range and initiated the second one for Mathiba.

DE REUCK SECOND IN MARATHONSOUTH AFRICA’S Collen de Reuck came second in the New York City Marathon women’s race cloking 2 hours 29 miuets 10 seconds behind Swiss Franziska Rochat-Moser who finished first. Franka Fiacconi of Italy finished third.

MASINGA SCORED A BRACEBAFANA Bafana marksman Phil Masinga scored two goals to help his Itailian serie A club Bari to a 3-2 victory over Empoli on Sunday.

BAFANA BAFANA SQUAD FOR GERMANYSOUTH AFRICAN national soccer coach Clive Barker has named a 22-man strong squad to play against Germany in Dosseldorf on November 15. Barker has included five new players for this game in Junaid Hartley, Thabo Mngomeni, Frank Schoeman, Alfred Phiri and Jabu Mnguni.
