Bafana ready to attack

FRIDAY, 11.00AM:

BAFANA BAFANA coach Clive Barker is likely to field a squad that will attack from the first whistle against Germany. He said Bafana Bafana’s skill is the only way to upset Germany.

“If we are not creative we will be beaten,” said Barker. “I believe we are stronger than them in a one-on-one situation and we proved this in Johannesburg two years ago.” He said he is impressed by the commitment shown by his charges. David Nyathi and Brendon Augustine impressed Barker the most and the two are assured of appearances in Saturday’s game.

Barker is delaying naming the team until the last moment. “I cannot say who is in or out, there are too many places still up for grabs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Germany suffered a setback when captain Jurgen Klinsmann pulled himself out of the team because he has not fully recovered from an ankle injury. “I am disappointed not to be playing against South africa. I was looking forward to the match,” said Klinsmann. “This is a different South African team to the one we played in 1995. They have improved and have shown they belong to the top level in world football.”
