GRIQUAS need only 93 runs to win their Supersport Series cricket game against Free State on Monday, after dismissing their hosts for 227 in their second innings at the Springbok Park on Sunday. Griquas had earlier added 29 runs to their first innings 333/5 to finish at 362, with Free State 127 in arrears.
Free State’s first four wickets fell for 87 and they looked in trouble. Nicky Boje (43 not out), Gerhardus Liebenberg (43), and Morne van Wyk refused to bow to the Griquas.
Border were 53 for four in their second innings against Natal, a lead of 44, at Buffalo Park near East London. Natal had earlier scored 350 in their first in ings in reply to Border’s 341.
Eastern Province captain Kepler Wessels hit a 64 to help his team to a 232/6 in the game against Boland at St Georges Park. Wessels helped EP after four of the top five batsmen were sent packing by Boland’s bowlers. He was supported by Geoff Love (13), and Adrian Birrell (27). Now Boland have to score more than 250 to win on a wearing picth.
