THURSDAY, 4.00PM:
SRI Lankan leg spinner Upul Chandana took four wickets in an innings that saw Zimbabwe dismissed for 207 in the first of three one-day internationals in Colombo on Thursday.
Guy Whittal was Zimbabwe’s top-scorer, with 52 off 70 balls, doubtless a relief after they had managed just seven runs for the first two wickets. Whittal hit seven fours and managed a 60-run partnership with Grant Flower before being caught at deep mid-wicket off a ball from Sanath Jayasuriya.
Captain Alistair Campbell scored 36 runs, and Craig Wishart 41.
Then the Sri Lanka spinners cut a swathe of destruction through the middle order. The final six wickets managed just 34 runs as Chandana took four for 31 off 7,4 overs. Zimbabwe were all out in 48,4 overs after being put in to bat.
