MONDAY, 12.15PM:
A CLOSE confidant to Hard Livings gang leader Rashied Staggie, Leon “Chippy” Achilles, was shot in Woodstock, Cape Town on Sunday in a spate of Easter weekend gang-related killings.
Achilles died instantly when shots were fired from a passing Nissan Sentra at his stationery car. A second man in the car with Achilles was wounded and rushed to hospital.
On Saturday a 17-year-old youth, thought to be a member of the Hard Livings gang, was shot dead and two men wounded when the two cars they were travelling in were ambushed at a robot in central Cape Town.
In anther attack Katrina Cloete, 20, was wounded when a pipe bomb detonated in a house in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain, early on Saturday morning.
A two-year-old girl was shot in the back during a shootout between two rival gangs in Elsies River on Friday night. In further gang-related attacks, two shebeens were fired at, a pipe-bomb hurled at a shop on Sunday.
