ORLANDO Pirates signalled their aspirations to the Premiership soccer title when they beat Supersport United 1-0 at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday.
The match started off at a pedestrian pace but quickly gathered momentum which led to Dumi Ngobe scoring a brilliant goal in the 23rd minute. Defender Gerald Raphalela played a long through ball to Ngobe, who slotted it home after a poor clearance by Supersport defender Gareth Orritt.
Supersport should have equalised five minutes later, but Japie Momtale shot wide with keeper William Okpara at his mercy.
Santos lost 1-0 to Bush Bucks in a Premier League match played in Cape Town on Saturday. Patrick Moyo scored the only goal in the 22nd minute after a ddefensive blunder by Santos defender Cassiem Mohamed.
In other wekend results Cape Town Spurs trounced Vaal Professionals 4-0, and Wits University got the better of Dynamos beating them 2-0.
