Bok squad for UK tour

THE Springbok rugby squad for the grand slam tour to the United Kingdom in November was announced by Springbok manager Arthob Petersen on Saturday.

The squad includes eight new caps, Eastern Province scrumhalf Chad Alcock, EP right wing Deon Kayser, Western Province centre Robbie Fleck, Western Province flanker Corne Krige, Griquas utility back Robert Markram, Golden Lions hooker Owen Nkumane, Western Province lock Johnny Trytsman, and Golden Lions loose forward Andre Vos.

Three other players in the squad, Western Province lock Selborne Boome, Gauteng Falcons flyhalf Braam van Straaten and Griquas utility back Lourens Venter, have toured with the Boks before but none of them have played for the national team before.

Nkumane becomes the first African player to be included in a Springbok squad.
