BOTSWANA’S inflation rate increased to 6,4% in December, up from November’s 6,2%, the Bank of Botswana announced on Wednesday. The all items consumer price index was up to 115,3 from 114,9 the previous month, from a base of 100 in November 1996. The bank says it expects inflation to rise further, largely as a result of rising inflation in South Africa, domestic salary increases and a rapid growth in credit and government spending.
