ATC BACK IN BURUNDI

TANZANIA’S national carrier Air Tanzania Corporation (ATC) said on Wednesday it plans to resume flights to Burundi next month after regional leaders lifted economic sanctions against the country. Meanwhile, ATC is also set to dry-lease a Boeing 737-300 aircraft from Australia’s Ansett Worldwide in February to boost its present fleet of two Boeing 737-200 and two Fokker planes. The aircraft has a capacity of 150 passengers and will be leased for a period of four years. ATC said a security payment of $1-million was made to Ansett Worldwide and a monthly lease rate will be set as soon as operating and maintenance costs as well as revenues are established.
