NDOU WHIPS GUNGULUZA

PHILIP NDOU is the new South African Featherweight champion after Jackie Gunguluza in one minute and nineteen seconds into the third round on Sunday for the latter’s national title. The East London crowd was behind their champion as he entered the ring, but from the start it was clear that it wasn’t going to be an easy fight for the 33-year old Gunguluza. The 21-year old Ndou had a distinct height and reach advantage, but nevertheless was caught with some solid punches from the veteran champion. A short right uppercut sent Gunguluza to the floor. He rose to his feet at eight, but was clearly still out of it when the referee allowed the fight to continue. Gunguluza lasted two more rounds. Then came another dynamite right from Ndou and it was all over.
