POLLOCK SETS ONE-DAY RECORD

SOUTH Africa’s Shaun Pollock became the fastest player to record the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in one-day internationals in the replayed fourth match against New Zealand on Friday. Pollock broke the record of England’s Ian Botham in one-day cricket by seven matches. Pollock had scored 989 runs and taken 99 wickets in his 67 matches before Friday’s game in Napier in which he scored 16 and took three wickets for 33 runs in 7,4 overs. Only 15 players have achieved the one-day double.
