STERN WARNING FOR BAFANA

STERN John, the US-based striker for Trinidad and Tobago, will be the man to watch as Bafana Bafana face the Caribbean nation in a friendly on Thursday. The massive forward showed frightening speed in practice sessions, and in combination with Derek King and Nigel Pierre will make life difficult for Brian Baloyi. Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy are tied up with club committments, like many of Trott Moloto’s foreign-based players, although the Trinidadians are confident of their chances.

Without Lucas Radebe, Mark Fish and Pierre Issa, Moloto will probaly put Fabian McCarthy, Matthew Booth and Themba Mnguni in the back. Acting captain Doctor Khumalo and Thabo Mngomeni have a bit more experience in midfield, and Chiefs’ Pollen Ndlanya will team up with either Daniel Mudau or Siyabonga Nomvete in the absence of high-profile finishers Benni McCarthy, Shaun Bartlett and Phil Masinga.
