SARS WORKERS GET 48% BONUS

THE Receiver of Revenue’s employees will, subject to approval of the Auditor General, be given almost six months (48%) salary as a bonus this year, as a reward for their success in collecting tax for the treasury. Christo Henning, national spokesperson of the South African Revenue Service (SARS), said on Tuesday that the AG is currently checking this year’s collection results. “The bonus is part of the special incentive scheme that we have been implementing over the past three years and that comes to an end this year. Last year employees received 38% of their annual salary as a bonus and in 1997 they received about 44%,” he said.
