GOVT SLOWS CELL PHONE BID

THE government has yet to announce the conditions for the awarding of the third cell-phone licence less than four weeks before the deadline for submission of applications for the third cell-phone licence. Sake reports that regulations sent by the South African Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (Satra) to the department of communication, have not yet arrived on the desk of Jay Naidoo, minister of posts and telecommunications. The regulations are subject to the final approval of Naidoo before they may be published in the Government Gazette.
