SASOL Chemical Industries announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with Air Products South Africa to combine their infrastructure, facilities and expertise for the production and marketing of high purity hydrogen. The two companies are investing more than R20-million into the project which will expand Air Products’ existing high purity hydrogen supply and pipeline network in the Vaal Triangle region. Air Products will design, engineer, supply and install the plant which will be sited in Sasolburg and operated and maintained by Sasol Chemical Industries. The hydrogen produced will be supplied to a number of consumers via pipeline as well as to Air Products’ merchant market. Air Products is the largest third pary supplier of hydrogen in the world.
