GUINEAN authorities have turned away the body of a promiment opposition politician, Facine Beavogui, refusing to allow him to be buried in his homeland, a party source said on Sunday. The coffin bearing Beavogui, who had been spokesman for the opposition Guinean People’s Rally (RPG) and died in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, was refused entry by officials at Conakry airport, the RPG representative in Senegal, Ibrahima Sory Keita, said. Flown in on Saturday, the body was sent back from Conakry for the second time since Bauvogui was found dead on April 27. Guinean authorities gave no explanation when the coffin was turned away last month, Keita said.
