HUMBLED ZIM BOOST TEAM

SMARTING from a humiliating defeat by minnows, Swaziland, in the Cosafa Castle Cup on Sunday, Zimbabwe has recalled six of its foreign-based senior national soccer team players for its crucial match against Senegal, who showed they mean business when they thrashed Eritrea 6-2 one the same day. Zimbabwe only managed a 1-0 win over Eritrea who have only been playing international soccer for 11 months. Recalled to the squad to face Senegal, next Saturday, in the Africa Cup of Nations play-off, are Birmingham City tear-away striker, Peter Ndlovu, captain Norman Mapeza who plys his trade in Turkey’s first division. The others are South African based, Edelbert Dinha and Supersport forward Tauya Murewa. Also recalled were Swiss-based Adam Ndlovu and Agent Sawu. Murewa missed the past matches due to an ankle injury. The players did not play in Mbabane when the ‘Warriors’ as the national is called, was defeated 4-3 in a penalty shootout.
