‘SPIN DOCTOR’ TO COACH SA

AUSTRALIAN “spin doctor” Terry Jenner will be flying out in September to help prepare South Africa for next summer’s five-Test cricket series against England. Recognised as the man behind the “golden arm” — he has been the guiding force throughout Shane Warne’s career — Jenner’s main task will be to tutor youngsters throughout the country in the art of wristspinning. But he will literally also have current Test player Paul Adams in his suitcase throughout his two-week trip. “We want Paul to eat, sleep and drink wristspin with Jenner,” said UCB managing director Ali Bacher this week. While Jenner, who played nine Tests for Australia in the early 70’s, did have a brief coaching stint in South Africa a couple of years back, it was an unofficial visit, backed by private sponsorship. This time he comes at the behest of the UCB and new SA coach Graham Ford in particular.
