SOME 2000 MUSICIANS FOR FESTIVAL

ALMOST 2000 musicians from Africa and the African Diaspora are expected in Brazzaville for the second Panafrican Music Festival scheduled to take place from 1 to 8 August. Among the artists are Jamaica’s Jimmy Cliff, Americans Georges Culman and Nancy Wilson, Senegal’s Ismail Lo and Africando, South Africa’s Rebecca Malope and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Papa Wemba. The festival is organised under the auspices of the OAU, with the aim of promoting traditional and modern African music. The gathering also provides a platform for young artists to make themselves known.
