ZIMBABWE REVEALS TRADE DEFICIT

ZIMBABWE last year showed a trade deficit of Z$14,2-billion ($371-million), according to figures published Wednesday by the Central Statistical Office. The state-run CSO said exports were worth Z$45,2-billion against imports costing Z$59,4-billion. South Africa, Britain and the United States are its major export markets, and also the main source of imports, the CSO said. Zimbabwe’s primary export goods are tobacco and ferro-alloy minerals, accounting for 28,3% and 7,5% respectively of total export earnings.
