THE Oceana Fishing Group is to purchase a 45% stake in Namibia’s Etosha Fisheries Holding Co (Pty), effective from October 1, 1999, from the Premier Group. Etosha’s operations comprise a fish cannery and fishmeal plant in Walvis Bay, five pelagic fishing vessels and quotas amounting to 29% of the Namibian pilchard Total Allowable Catch. Oceana chairman Don Ncube said that the acquisition increases Oceana’s investment in the Namibian fishing and canning industry.
