BOTSWANA EXCHANGE BREAKS 1200

THE Botswana Stock Exchange domestic index broke through 1200 from Friday’s 1180,38 and at the Wednesday final callover was only 3,89 points off 1450 as two of the three banks added 225,63 million pula in value over the day. It closed at 1246,11. The bourse has now added 31,60% over the year. Barclays Bank of Botswana closed 17,19 percent or 110 thebe up on Friday at 750 thebe on good earnings news. It increased its market cap by 187,47 million pula to 1278,24 million and now accounts for 30,05 percent of the exchange. First National Bank was 7,5% or 150t up at 21,50 pula.
