MEMBERS of the Communication Workers’ Union are set to strike on Monday after the union failed to reach agreement on wage increases in talks with Telkom last week. CWU said its members will stage a national strike on Monday and will stay away from work on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, workers will picket various Telkom offices and plants. The strike comes after an impasse in wage negotiations in which the union is demanding a 14% increase for its members in auxiliary services, 13% for operational staff, and 11% for all members in supervisory positions. Telkom has offered after employees a flat 5% increase.
