GRIQUAS THRASH FALCONS

SIX second half tries swept Griquas to a resounding 45-26 victory over an increasingly ragged Falcons who let slip a 14-point 21-7 interval lead as their disappointing season dribbles to a close. The home side scored three times in the first half, two of them from well-worked lineout moves close to the line and the best a solo effort from 40 metres by scrumhalf Deon de Kock. But the longer the season has gone on the better Griquas have got and they were able to pick-up the tempo enough to blow the Falcons off the park. Flanker Gideon Watts scored a brace and his backrow partner Pierre Uys claimed another as the pace and mobility of Griquas’ game proved too much for the Falcons. Dirkie Strydom, Hakkies Husselman and Andre Vermeulen upheld the honour of the backs with scores of their own.
