MUGABE ORDERED TO FOOT BILL

THE Zimbabwe trial of three US nationals on arms charges resumes on Thursday. Meanwhile, the country’s Supreme Court Justice, Anthony Gubbay, has ruled that the government must pay the legal cost of the trial because the men have been ill treated in detention. In July the lawyers of the accused won a Supreme Court order for the relaxation of their jail conditions, allowing them to meet within the prison, but President Robert Mugabe used special powers to overturn the order.
