TELKOM TO MEET UNIONS

TELKOM and the South African Post Office are due to meet representatives of the Communication Workers’ Union on Monday to discuss the ongoing industrial action over wage increases. CWU members went on strike two weeks ago demanding increases of between 10% and 14% for Post Office and Telkom staff. While workers returned to work last week they have been continuing low-key industrial action in the form of go-slows and work-to rule actions. The Post Office on Friday suspended its lock-out policy pending talks with the CWU.
