THE Ministry of Sport and Recreation on Tuesday praised Penny Heyns and Hezekiel Sepeng for their respective performances in the Pan Pacific swimming championships in Sydney and the IAAF world championships in Seville. Sport and Recreation Minister Ngconde Balfour said it is becoming difficult to keep pace with Heyns’ breath-taking records. “Your latest record in the 50m breaststroke has been nothing short of breath-taking,” Balfour said, adding, “To achieve eight world records is phenomenal.” He called Heyns a hero of the people of South Africa. Balfour said Sepeng had also done the nation proud with his outstanding pejrformance at the world track and field championships at Seville.
