ACTIVIST’s GRANDSON UP FOR RAPE

THE 14-year-old grandson of a prominent former leader of the African National Congress appears in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with the rape of a 14-year-old schoolgirl. SABC TV reports that the boy’s grandfather was a late leader of the ruling party, and his grandmother is a well-known political figure. The boy was arrested on Friday with a 12-year-old co-accused after they allegedly raped the girl in a patch of open veld in the suburb of Bryanston. The accused cannot be named because they are minors.
