A BODYGUARD of slain United Democratic Movement leader Sifiso Nkabinde has been arrested on charges of involvement in the politician’s murder, National Directorate of Public Prosecutions spokesman Sipho Ngwena said on Monday. The bodyguard and a woman were arrested in Nkabinde’s Magoda stronghold outside Richmond village in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands on Sunday. They face charges of accessory after the fact and attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Both are scheduled to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court on Monday. Nkabinde was gunned down outside the Bridgeway supermarket in Richmond on January 23. The latest arrests bring to 10 the number of people apprehended in connection with the killing. The bodyguard and his mother, who were in the car when Nkabinde was shot, both sustained several gunshot wounds during the attack.
