UNIVERSITY of Cape Town vice-chancellor Dr Mamphele Ramphele is expected to announce her resignation from the position on Tuesday, the Cape Argus reports on Monday. Ramphele is tipped to take up a senior position at the World Bank, although the exact title of her new job has not yet been confirmed. Ramphele’s move will leave UCT’s top post vacant. She was appointed as the university’s eighth vice chancellor in 1995, becoming the first black person and the first woman to occupy the post.
