SABC RESTRUCTURES AGAIN

THE South African Broadcasting Corporation will become a limited company in December and the process of splitting the broadcaster up into public and commercial services would start in April 2000, Parliament’s communications portfolio committee heard on Tuesday. The SABC’s senior general manager for communication and marketing, Thaninga Shope said that the SABC will register as a limited company, appoint a new board of directors and settle its liabilities and obligations. Phase three of the “corporatisation” process will include a review of operations and financial and information management systems.
