ANGLO American Corp’s paper and pulp unit Mondi Ltd said on Thursday that it has sold two of its South African corrugated packaging plants to a black empowerment firm for R100-million. Mondi said in a statement that the sale satisfies a requirement of the Competition Commission following Mondi’s recent R538-million acquisition of Kohler Corrugated from its rival Malbak Ltd. Mondi sold the units to New Era Packaging, a subsidiary of black empowerment enterprise the Golden Era Group.
