OWN CORRESPONDENT, Cardiff | Wednesday 10.00am.
TIAAN Strauss, former Springbok skipper and now Wallaby eighthman, will retire from international rugby after the World Cup.
The thirty-two year old has again been passed over by the Australian selectors for Saturday’s tournament decider against France at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Strauss, who also did play against his former teammates in the semi-final over the weekend said that he is very disappointed to be “out in the cold” after playing eleven test for the Wallabies this year.
But Strauss acknowledged that this “is part of rugby.”
Strauss said that he will continue to play Super-12 rugby for New South Wales.
Wallaby coach Rod Macqueen said the decision to drop Strauss was a difficult one, as he “has played so well.”
The same line-up that beat the Springboks 21-27 at the weekend has again been given the nod, but a single change has been made in the 22-man squad with loosehead prop Dan Crowley recalled in place of Rod Moore.
