THE South African Rugby Football Union said on Monday that the Springboks should not be disgraced for placing third at the World Cup.
SARFU President, Silas Nkanunu praised the Boks, saying that “there was always evidence that the team was determined to succeed. They, like all others, wanted to win, to make themselves and their country proud. Unfortunately this did not happen, but they did enough to confirm South Africa’s status as one of the strongest rugby playing nations in the world.
Minister of Sport and Recreation Ngconde Balfour said the Boks “were not disgraced at the World Cup. I am immensely proud of the achievements of our boys. Not for one moment did they let us down.”
